Sony Ericsson phone – absolutely disappointed

For last six months or so I have been using Sony Ericsson Mobile obviously below 10k (I don’t like to invest more in mobile above 4 figures), last held by me was Nokia Express music. Initially I thought maybe I am used to Nokia so didn’t bother much on difficulty faced by certain daily activity done by mobile gadget, something like contact address, changing tunes, turning to silent mode, switching on off mobile, messaging and all that… because I knew that as we are used to one item for a longer duration, users have a tendency to hate any new changes, but as the day went on, I really started missing my Nokia phone.

Firstly lets start with switching between mode Silent/Ringer, well I find it boring and also annoyed to do it in my Sony phone, simple reason, Nokia had this 2 step theory, you press the power mode it will ask you options, switch off or silent or many other options, and in here we need to go through complete menu and blah blah….

Secondly, this maybe a defect in my phone but my mobile always sort of hangs after I dial a number and it is busy. Though I don’t blame the whole of Sony but I am still annoyed by this

Thirdly, if you wanna delete many messages or say mark a message or delete all messages, it’s a pain in Sony phones, well in Nokia it’s that easy to do.

Lastly many other options like adding a new contact, sending business cards, changing tunes, etc. seems to be a tough task in Sony if you compare it with Nokia.

I am absolutely disappointed with this and really miss the NOKIA experience. Now I know how important it is to have a good user experience in Mobile phones, as mobiles are now become a active part of our lives. We deserve a good experience don’t we ?

Oh no…. What happened to Mid-day website ?

Year 2001-02 when we used to dig into gossip columns and local Mumbai flavour news and we used to get a lot more satisfaction in Mid-Day.com website, mind it only website, newspaper version was always like a cheap advertisement pamphlet utter useless, but website was different, we used to enjoy reading articles, especially local news, Gossips from film industry. They were unique. There was a time when I would also give this as example for good user experience in lots of forum.

Now looke what is happened to them in last 2-3 years. It is now one of the hopeless and worst website I have ever seen. They seemed to be impressed by the idea of epaper it seems, but no way it really sucks. They might have changed website 2-3 times in these short span. God knows what are they upto, its horrible, just check at your own risk http://www.mid-day.com/.

A Perfect case study to showcase on how a good news portal can be completely screwed by choosing bad design. I was wondering who in the earth felt like moving in this direction.

3 movies I watched in past 2 weeks

Still getting used to slow Kolkata work culture, staying in boredom guest house where I have been placed and that too inside campus. Yes it is like a Jail with exception that you are free to go only on weekends. So what to do on weekends and that too alone, only 2 best friend of yours one movie and other books, well I choose the former one and saw 3 different types of movie and as I don’t have much to do right now, just wanted to share reviews of these movie.

1. Jail, good one
Yes this was the first film I watched and as my thinking was right there were few people who came to watch, but I like intense movies with gripping human insights shown and as my expectations didn’t go wrong, Jail turned out to be a great watch especially if you are alone, it is worth a watch. I mean there is not much as a plot or story but every character is well defined and you can see the pain and real trauma that these criminals undergo, i.e. when they are caught. Shown as real as possible, after watching you will feel that judicial system in our country needs revamp immediately. Though Neil Mukesh isn’t a great actor but its sole director’s movie. Also I like Madhur’s movie though some say he exaggerates a lot but who cares. I liked the 2 characters in the film, one off course neil’s custody (watch him go wild when he beats up a fellow prisoner), second one is of Manoj’s character. Actually he is a winner here, absolutely amazing act by manoj, I hope we get to see such kind of role from manoj more often. Thumbs up for Jail.

2. Kurbaan, not good enough
Alright they have made path breaking film about extremists and religion tolerance, and yes kareena and saif did a decent job here, but what I felt was that something missing, don’t know what but really didn’t like the way the movie was going. I felt like it was revamping of New York film, even though plot and story of both were different but I liked New York film more (minus the climax which was childish). Only good thing about the film was that there were no songs, I mean songs were there but was well executed. Many people argued that this maybe a decent effort to bring about Global terrorism, but I felt otherwise. It clearly shows extremism at its peak. Again it shows that anyone can get to India, become Indian and get a Visa to US. It again shows something wrong in our Visa Consulate. High time our consulate become as strict as of US or UK, otherwise we are in deep trouble.

3. Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani, not my kind of movie but still a light movie
Always desert is served after the dinner, so this was apt movie after seeing 2 intense and dark movie. Ajab… was light comedy, yes rightly targeted towards mushy mushy young lovers and college going kids. I would say a decent effort reminds more 80s and 90s off course not the dakus and family ones. I kind of not liked it so much but was still refreshed a bit cause it was not that hard hitting emotions and melodramatic foolish movie, director seemed to hit a right chord and target it at appropriate time. This movie might be a hit in India but to me I won’t buy it, ya OK one time watch

It hurts when we loose after playing so well

351 to win a match and everybody would say match gone, but India managed to almost win it. Point is not that we lost but we were demolorized by the ausies which resulted in a big loss the next match. It really hurts when we play so well, I mean if you gotta see the way Sachin and Raina batted almost fearlessly, no one thought we would loose.
Sachin, once again reminded of Channai test against Pakistan when he scored some 100 odd runs and again fell when just 15-16 were required and we lost the match, everone was shell shocked. Again history repeated, thank god it was not the Pakis again.. Anyways back to Sachin, I feel very sorry for this guy. This time I don't see he being culprit. What was Raina doing ? What was Ravindra Jadeja doing ? Why was Bajji sent ahead ? why cannot our tail finish things ? Some questions still face a grim Indian dressing room. Realy this time I felt pity for sachin, he could have done it very easily. At one time yes I hated him when he got out but then after a day or so I felt that imagine how he would have felt, rather shattered than us.
So in short we cannot blame sachin alone for the loss, as a team last 4-5 players are solely responsible and also this reminds me of a hindi film title very approporiate, Jo Jeeta wohi .
